You need the following.

• An ISP (Internet Service Provider)

• One of the following Internet browsers
  • Netscape 4.5+
  • Internet Explorer 5.0+

• In Netscape, enable these browser options.
  • Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) v2.0 and v3.0
  • JavaScript v1.1
  • Accept Cookies

• In Internet Explorer, enable these browser options. (JavaScript is automatically enabled for you.)
  • Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) v2.0 and v3.0
  • Accept Cookies

  Download a browser

  To download the latest version of Netscape or Internet Explorer, click one of the following.

  	Upgrade to the latest version of Netscape
  	Upgrade to the latest version of Internet Explorer

  After you download the browser,

  1	Connect to the internet using the software provided by your Internet Service Provider.
  2	Upon successful connection to the internet, open the browser.

  Enable browser options

  Only Microsoft and Netscape browsers support JavaScript as well as Secure Sockets Layer which encrypts data sent over the Internet. The GXS TradeWeb service utilizes the security protection technology of Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) v2.0. The service CANNOT be used without JavaScript and SSL.

  Additionally, "Cookies" must be enabled in your browser. A "Cookie" is a small item of information that a web server leaves on your own computer for future reference, such as answers to Registration questions. This information is read only by the server that created it, and generally has an expiration date when it is automatically erased.

  To enable browser options from Netscape, do the following.

  1	Open Netscape.
  2	On the Communicator toolbar, click the Security icon.
  3	On the left side of the Security Info page that appears, click the word Navigator.
  4	On the Navigator page that appears, make sure the following options are enabled. You may have to scroll down to view both options. Enable SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) v2 Enable SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) v3 An option is "selected" if a checkmark appears in the box next to it. To enable or disable an option, simply click on it.
  5	Click OK to close the page and return to the browser desktop.
  6	From the browser's Edit menu, select Preferences.
  7	On the left side of the Preferences page that appears, click the word Advanced.
  8	Make sure the following options are selected. Enable Java Enable JavaScript Accept all cookies
  9	Click OK to close the page.

  To enable browser options from Internet Explorer, do the following.

  1	Open Internet Explorer.
  2	From the Tools menu, select Internet Options.
  3	On the top right of the Internet Options page that appears, click the Advanced tab.
  4	Scroll down to the Security heading.
  5	Make sure the following options are enabled. SSL 2.0 SSL 3.0 Always accept cookies An option is "enabled" if a checkmark appears in the box next to it, or if a dot appears in the circle next to it. To enable or disable an option, simply click on it.
  6	Click OK to close the page.

Remark

If you want to retain permanent copies of EDI messages that you send and receive, you need a way to save the data, such as available disk space on your computer, a floppy disk, or a writable CD.

Before you can sign-up and register for the GXS TradeWeb Service, you must have the following materials and information.

• Netscape v4.5+ or Internet Explorer v5.0+ browser. See the instructions in the Software and Browser Requirements area.

• Proper authorization from your company to accept and agree to the terms and conditions of the Service Agreement displayed during this registration

• Account details for the credit card, bank debit, or direct invoice account you want to use for GXS TradeWeb billing purposes. Valid credit cards are American Express, Master Card, Visa, and Discover. Note that not all countries currently support all billing options.

• Company information, such as

  • Company mailing and billing address and phone number

  • Name of GXS TradeWeb contact person -- A contact person is contacted by other subscribers to establish a trading relationship and is responsible for GXS TradeWeb account maintenance

  • Industry and geographic region(s) served

  • Products purchased and sold

• Payment types accepted

• If you are registering to trade with a specific Trading Partner or Association, the Trading Partner or Association access code and Marketing ID number, provided by GXS, Inc.
